Traditional folk houses

This picture is japanese traditional folk houses.
The houses have thatched roof that is suitable japanese climate.
In the houses summer is cool and winter is warm.

So,you should take off your shoes before entering the hiroma.
Hiroma is sentral room in the house.
There is Irori in the sentral hiroma.Roles of Irori are lighting and warming in the house.
And, the smork and soot from the irori help to preserve the beams.

I think that japanese traditional folk houses don't have waste.
